Literally, if you cook, it is likely that you will buy herbs.
Rosemary, basil, oregano, ground pepper,
The cost of each small bottle in the picture is usually around $5+/-
I used to use them sparingly when I did my fish, or steak, etc.
I mean, come on, it's 5 bucks for a small bottle.
Then I chanced upon the big bottle types. Those are also McCormick, except the pepper which is Kirkland. And these big bottles are around $10+/-. I bought my bottles at NTUC hub at Boon Lay area when it used to be there. I haven't been back there recently, but I heard that the NTUC hub was taken over by Decathlon Store which sells sports and outdoor items. The problem with NTUC hub previously was that you needed to be a member to buy stuff from there. I am not a member, so at that time, to purchase anything from the place, I needed to buy a $5 pass, and I could buy anything from NTUC hub. That day, I consolidated my purchases and paid the $5 once off fee and bought a bunch of stuff which included these herbs/spices. But I heard that the place has either reduced in size or been taken over by Decathlon, so maybe someday I'll go back and check it out again.
Then I found a place which sells this at less than $10 at Great World City basement 2. I think the shop is "The Butcher's Dog". It was only less than 1 month later that I found this other place, the herbs were being sold at $7-$9, as you may expect, I was quite cheesed off. But what's done is done. I know where to get my herbs next time when I run out.
Now that I have gotten the big bottles, I can use them freely when I cook and it's quite liberating thinking that it isn't so expensive and that I don't need to use it sparingly.
Anyway, just wanted to share, cos previously, I felt so pathetic when I was using the small bottles.
