I had nothing to do. My wife had a dinner appointment so I was left alone at home.
I was lazy to cook so I didn't eat dinner.
There was a glass of sweet wine in the fridge from a couple of days back.
So I turned on the music and slowly sipped my wine.
After I finished the wine, I was in a good mood, so I opened the bottle of beer in the fridge as well.
Slowly sipped that and finished it as well.
Wife still wasn't back and I thought, might as well take another drink as I don't get the mood to drink often.
So I poured out a glass (200ml) of Johnny Walker Black Label neat. That means just straight without mixing anything. Drank that slowly as well.
Wife still wasn't back. Poured another glass of Johnny Walker...
Then it happened. I started feeling that I might not make it through my 2nd glass of JW.
I added some green tea to the glass to water it down a bit. Finished around half of it and the world was spinning.
I remember some guy ringing my doorbell wanting me to do a survey. I opened the door. Told him I was kinda drunk and it wasn't really a good time. He was like... Ok... and moved on to ring my neighbour's doorbell.
My wife came back shortly after the survey guy.
She was like "Oh my goodness what's the matter with you!" I was lying with my head on the table.
Anyway long story short. I was almost dead drunk. Vomitted and all that. I could still make it to my bed.
So what's my misadventure yesterday got to do with today's post.
Well. It was a recipe for disaster.
1) I hadn't eaten dinner.
2) I mixed 3 types of drinks. People have advised against mixing drinks.
3) I was drinking quite fast. Around 3 hours.
Considering the liver metabolizes alcohol at around 1 unit per hour.
I had something like 10 units of alcoholic drinks.
I woke up today thinking. Hell! What a mess...
This got me thinking of other stuff as well.
Like the global economy.
1) Donald Trump
2) Brexit
3) Korea president scandal
4) China economic woes (over capacity, declining demand, etc)
5) China property bubble? Shanghai? Typical places cost SGD2m, they don't have HDB for residents.
6) Italy Prime Minister resigning, banking issues
Seriously? It is stunning that the market is hitting new highs during this period. Absolutely stunning.
Now I'm not any great market analyst. But looking at the potential fall out from any of those events, not to mention the potential combined effects of them, I personally think 2017 might be an exciting year. Then again, I've been wrong many times, so what do I know.
