But yet I comment and express my disbelief of the things that people do.
I also critique and discuss the irrationality of it.
So some folks may say that I AM judging.
So what do I mean when I say "I'm not judging"
I mean, regardless of what you do, I still respect you as a person.
Unless you're a total a******. But that's a different matter. Refer to posts about degradation of society here and here.
I'm talking about your financial decisions and stuff like that.
So if you want to buy the latest iPhone or BMW or premium running shoes. That's all cool.
It's your money and you're entitled to spend it anyway you want.
And I wish you all the happiness which you could obtain by your purchases.
Essentially, when I critique and discuss,
Critique - a detailed analysis and assessment of something, especially a literary, philosophical, or political theory.
Discuss - talk or write about (a topic) in detail, taking into account different issues or ideas.
I really am just talking about it and trying to understand or rationalize the decisions that people make.
Or most of the time I cannot understand why some folks make the decision they make.
Nonetheless, I have good friends who buy premium running shoes, big cars, spend a lot on renovation, etc etc. And I wish them all the happiness. I do not aim to insult them by my posts or undermine their decision.
I just hope that my posts and comments will provie readers with an alternative view that consumerism is very rampant in society and yet there are other people who do not buy into such marketing tactics.
Life is short, around 30,000 days only. So if spending on luxury items makes you happier, then by all means go ahead.
My blog aims to highlight ideas which I use to save more and learn more to be a happier person on my journey in life and hopefully earlier retirement.
So, no, I'm not judging. I'm not saying you shouldn't do something. I'm not saying it's stupid to do whatever thing. I'm not you and you aren't me. So I can only logically rationalize the motivations behind the different decisions that peope make. But that is only from my point of view.
For example, the motivations to buying a luxury car could be
1) Better performance
2) Nice to show off to people
3) Spacious
4) Luxurious
5) Expensive but still can handle the payments
6) Drinks a lot of fuel but can handle the cost
However, from my point of view
1) I don't need better performance in a vehicle. As long as it's a vehicle and doesn't breakdown
2) I don't really care about impressing people
3) I would like a bigger car but not willing to pay for it
4) As long as it's comfortable enough it's good enough for me
5) Expensive and I don't see the value in it
6) Same as 5
So as you can see, it could be valid for someone to want to buy a luxury vehicle.
But from my point of view, I find no meaning for it.
I'm not saying you shouldn't get the vehicle.
Anyone who buys whatever they want doesn't impact me. I still live the same life as I do.
So, yes, that's what I mean by I'm not judging your decisions. Your life, your own decisions.
