I've also had those kind of thoughts...
But as I grow older, I realize that such feelings are flawed, cos... you'll never know what you want... well most of the time you won't.
So it's better and probably faster to TRY IT OUT FIRST... then know that it's not what you want then move on and find something else...
It's like... I don't know what job I like... so I stay in the job that I don't like cos I don't know what else I'll like... and in the end I stay in the job I don't like for 10 years...
Instead, wouldn't it be faster to cycle through multiple jobs, try out something for 1 year, know that's not what you want, then move on... you can try out many jobs and before 10 years is up, you may find out what you want, instead of keep thinking about it...
Or some people say they want to have kids when they are ready... well, more often than not, people always say, you'll never be ready for kids, you just have kids and live with the decision.
Life is always uncertain... most of the time, you won't know what's in front of you... somehow as we grow older we get more risk adverse... when we were young, did we know what we wanted to study? Some yes, some no... but most of the time... just study first talk later. And when we realize we studied the wrong thing, what did we do? Just move on and learn from it and make the best of it...
That's life...
But yet, as we grow older, we get stuck in our ways we don't want to explore other things for the risk of failing again?
We have more commitments which amplifies our fear?
But yet, even people with less commitments don't want to explore...
I suppose... people just like certainty...
Like... I'm certain that this job isn't fun, but it's probably bearable.
What if I change and it becomes unbearable? Then how? At least this is bearable...
Oh well, I suppose that's life, and most people function this way...
