Not the exact words, but the idea that the rich don't want to teach or don't want more folks to get rich.
Maybe it's just marketing, but I know that there are people who think that the rich don't want the common folk to get rich...
Firstly, Robert Kiyosaki... Ok from some preliminary research, it appears that his books are mainly fiction. As in the "stories" that he tells aren't true. But the idea behind the story is real. I.e. getting passive income, saving, investing, not to spend too much etc... all good ideas.
Some people don't like Robert Kiyosaki, cos they believe his books to be a bunch of lies... but... why care... if the idea is good. Keep it.
(Side note: It's the same as Greta Thunberg. Some people believe she's being used, some people use an example that she sailed to the UN meeting in a sailboat to reduce carbon due to flying, BUT she flew back to her home country, and the team that needs to retrieve the sailboat will need to fly from the home country to retrieve the sailboat and that incurs even more carbon footprint. Or that she ate with plastic products in the train where she took for her travels... Many people are so focused on her that they miss the message.
The question isn't what she does... IF climate change is real and you believe in climate change, then something needs to be done.
IF you don't believe in climate change... well nothing to talk about, don't need to bash her or criticize her or anything. Even if she lived in the middle of a forest, someone who doesn't believe in climate change wouldn't change their minds.
The idea is independent of the person and their actions.)
So for Robert Kiyosaki, his books teach something important about financial knowledge. If his stories are true, or not, whether he himself follows the advice, or not... it's something for me, ourselves to determine what we want to do with the knowledge. Believe it or not... it's up to us...
Ok anyway back to topic... in many of the books, he talks about the "secret" to getting rich... like it's protected by the rich, like it's some knowledge that rich don't want normal folks to know about...
The thing is... is that true?
I've know a few rich people in my life... investment bankers, businessmen, very successful private bankers, financial planners, property agents...
The thing is, they don't really care.
From what I see, they know how to get wealthy. They don't mind teaching you how to get wealthy.
Obviously, they won't give you free money. But they aren't selfish that they don't want to share knowledge. If you ask them how they get rich, they will you their stories, most of the time.
What most people don't tell you... is wealth management.
That's cos nobody actually asks it.
Most people look at a businessman and see his fortune and how much he earns and his lifestyle.
Not many people talk about his sacrifices when he was young, or how much he scrimped and saved when he first started out. People don't ask... oh what do you do with the money after you've earned it?
Usually... businessmen will reinvest the money into their own businesses... and that's how they get rich.
Actually, financial management is what most financial bloggers talk about... it's AFTER earning the money. How do you still KEEP the money. That's what most people don't ask and talk about.
For rich people... it's like golf... they play with other people. BUT... they know that the skill of the other rich people doesn't affect their own game, and it's the same for wealth. Telling people how to get rich, won't make them rich, same as golf. They know that you can have coaches for golf, but that doesn't mean that someone will be good at golf.
So in truth, the rich don't really care. They know what it takes to get rich and to stay there. They know that there will be folks who will be able to get rich too. They know that there is sufficient money in this world for other folks to get rich... They know that there will be a lot of normal people who won't be able to get rich. It's all part of society and how PEOPLE WORK. It's not about the knowledge of getting rich... this is just the current rational balance. Around 10%-20% of people are wealthy. Most aren't... simply cos of lifestyle.
Most people don't want to make changes to their jobs or lifestyle to become wealthier. They want to become wealthier by doing exactly what they are currently doing. WHICH ISN'T POSSIBLE. That's not how life works. They are what they are currently by doing what they are doing currently.
If they want a different outcome, they need to change something.
I'm not talking about poverty. There's another issue entirely.
I'm saying... Any normal folk with a fair enough education and willing to work hard, upgrade their skills and job scope, and save and be prudent with spending and gives a little bit of thought and effort into investing, even with SSB... will be able to retire as millionaires in their 50-60s.
Highly achievable in Singapore.
Most people don't. Not cos the rich don't want them to know anything, it's not some special knowledge... it's a simple thing... Just don't spend money.
The rich, don't care whether you get rich or not. They are too busy getting richer, or too busy doing their own thing.
So simple.
