It's pretty cool that the main basic expenses, food and transport, has remained mainly constant.
Food expenses has been pretty normal under $300, transport at around $50.
Typically, the highlighted numbers would remain under $500 every month.
This is important cos these numbers are the numbers which will be our retirement number should my wife decide to stop working.
In Dec we spent a couple of days in KL for my wife's biz trip, food expense was $175.30.
Quite expensive cos my wife wanted to try some new restaurants. But she gets whatever she wants so...
Anyway when we were in KL, she received an email requesting for her to fly to Paris...
So... we had a last minute trip to Paris and I was dragged along as usual. The trip cost us $1,950 including travel insurance. Food for us over there was $26 for 5 days. We had lounge access to most of our food was taken care of. Wife also had meals with colleagues during the events so that was free for her as well. The $26 was for meals before check in and after check out.
When we came back, we decided to get worldwide travel insurance for ourselves. Cos it's just cheaper that way. $356 for the both of us. We travel every month so it's pretty useful. So we have this insurance for the whole year for all our trips.
$33 on gifts. I forgot what they were. Probably buying a friend a meal or a Christmas present.
All of these used to be lumped under special expenses and my wife's travels are getting more frequent and to further places.
But if we remove all her work related expenses. I'm looking at $672.66 in fixed expenses, plus around $500 per month in basic expenses. So it's going to be around $1,200 per month for the both of us, or $14,400 per year.
$288,000 x 5% per annum = $14,400
$360,000 x 4% per annum = $14,400
$480,000 x 3% per annum = $14,400
$720,000 x 2% per annum = $14,400
Ok so depending on what kind of returns I expect, my AUM needs to be adjusted to suit my needs.
Anyway, by 28 Feb 2019, I'll have tracked my expenses for a year. So I'll be able to consolidate for the whole year. It would be interesting to find out what my expenses are for the whole year.
