I just finished resetting my phone and setting it up again. Yesterday evening I was installing some stuff and when I restarted my phone it went into a startup loop. Meaning, I could only see the phone logo and it doesn't finish loading. I thought it was doing some updates so I just left it alone. But this morning it was still the same so I had to search online on how to fix it.
(Reason for the late post.)
My XiaoMi phone doesn't have a removable battery so I couldn't turn it off. Holding the on/off button just restarts the phone and it goes back into the loop. So I went online to find a way to do a factory reset and that fixed the problem.
It was quite scary. Considering that I just got the phone a couple of months back, and I dropped it and cracked the screen. Then now I had this software issue. I thought the phone was going to give me problems and I would need to bring it to the service center.
Lucky I managed to clean it up.
Oh well... phones these days are really too smart and manufacturers keep loading the OS with more stuff and lots of bloatware. Well, personally, I don't have many apps on my phone so I try to remove whatever apps that I don't need, but phones these days come loaded with so many stuff which I don't really want.
I do miss those days when phones were simpler to use and not so many settings and functions. Just some simple functionality. Maybe camera... Those were good days. At least I see people talking to people more. I will always remember the day I walked past Swensons. I saw a family of 4 sitting there waiting for their food and all 4 of them were on their phone... Woah... Then come out to eat for what? Just dabao home can already.
I suppose the phone is very much like fire, a good servant, poor master. Does the phone own you or do you own the phone? I know instances where both parents are engrossed in their phones and just leave the child to play or do anything, cos they are just so engrossed in their online shopping or Facebook...
So strange... phones are supposed to improve communication and connections, but in the end, seems like the closer relationships around us are affected instead.
I think it's not about the phone, but rather, the other distractions available on the phone. Pretty much... Games, Facebook, Instagram, online shopping, etc... usually not the communication functions of a phone... How much time do people really spend on the actual communication functions of the phone?
A smart phone is a marvelous device. I can control my TV with it, pay stuff with it, take pictures, capture memorable moments in my life, keep in contact with people whom I don't want/get to meet often. So many other things. And yet when it takes over your life, it's such a pity, such a useful tool becomes just a hindrance to what's really important, ie, the real life around you.
Oh well, just a short rant cos after I spent a few hours setting up my phone, I realized how much stuff I had in my phone to help me with my daily stuff, and yet, a lot of times, I'm quite against over usage of a phone.
Hope everyone will have a nice day today and not over indulge in your phones.
