In Singapore, we don't see stars very much cos of all the light pollution. All the lights from HDBs and everything else hinder the ability to see stars.
I saw a sky of stars in Australia once and I was totally mesmerized by it. So many stars are out there and we can't see it cos of where we stay.
So anyway... it's a short post... just for fun... and maybe to change your perspective.
Why do stars only come out at night?
Is this a stupid question?
Can you see stars in the day?
Why?
What is the brightest star in the sky?
If you know the answer to this, then look at the first question again.

Ok so I know many of you won't know the answer and some of you won't bother to find out the answers. So I'll just state it simply.
Why do stars only come out at night?
The stars are always around.
Can you see stars in the day?
Yes and no. No you can't see the stars that you expect to see at night cos the Sun is brighter than them.
What is the brightest star in the sky?
The Sun is the brightest star in the sky...
So the point is... Yes you can see a star in the day. It's the Sun.
What's the point of this?
Well... I think, everything depends on perspectives.
Like, we always call the Sun the Sun... But how many of us know that it is actually a star. And that star is called the Sun.
Or, to me, meat is meat.
Dog meat is meat, cat meat, etc etc...
Some people make a hooha over eating dog meat, horse meat, whatever... so cruel...
Well, unless you're a vegetarian, all meat are cruel. The chicken, or fish or pig will die for us to consume. Just cos someone owns a pet dog doesn't make them less cruel that they don't eat dog. Or that dog eaters are cruel.
That's unless the dog eater tortures the dog before eating it.
Turn it around. If I own a pet fish, pet chicken, pet pig, doesn't mean I could start calling everyone else cruel cos I own pets.
So once again, what's the point of all this?
Perspectives.
If I vote for the PAP... does that mean I support all their policies?
If I support WP does that mean everything the PAP has done is all wrong?
We see this a lot. If someone speaks up for a PAP policy, people might label him a PAP dog.
It's not always about PAP or WP... rather... let's look at things from a independent point of view.
If something is right, then it's right. If it's wrong, then it's wrong. Then there's other opinions and there's no right or wrong.
Some WP supporters will support WP regardless of right or wrong.
Same as PAP supporters. They won't listen to what WP has to say.
And I think it's a fallacy. It's not always yes or no. There's a whole load of in between.
And it's important to look at things in multiple ways so that we can critique it, analyze it, and judge for ourselves what is good or bad, what works for us or not.
We are very used to taking one position and defending it.
If you support Man U, you don't support Liverpool. Why? Ever heard of anyone who says they support BOTH Man U and Liverpool? No right? I also dunno why.
When I was in school. And there was a marketing topic and the teacher was talking about healthy options for consumers. And everyone was talking about vegetarian food. And I highlighted... "But chicken is also healthy food. Why is everyone talking about vegetarian burgers?"
I was quickly ignored cos somehow, that line of thought was not mainstream... HUH?!
I think it was due to my Literature classes in secondary school. We always needed to critique the books and understand the characters in the books and keep a neutral point of view. To break down the points to smaller details to better understand them without putting in our own biases...
Then again... Maybe I'm just "guai-lan" and I always try to find the unconventional way to look at things just for the sake of it. LOL
