I had this blank in my mind... I can hardly think of anything to write about...
I can't even think of any trash talk to say.
I've written about a lot of things on this blog.
And after a while it gets repetitive. And for me, I think so many things are actually so simple.
The answers are all there, the cultivation of the path is not easy, but the answer is there.
And online, there are so many people who have written on it.
For instance, losing weight is easy. People just need to exercise and eat less.
Eating less is more important cos you can't out exercise a bad diet.
It's as simple as that.
The answer is easy, but the cultivation of the practice is hard.
So many people try to look for other answers.
Weird diets, pills, etc... And most of the time these other solutions don't work.
In the end, people end up poorer, but still not the health they desire.
Success...
Success is for you to define. There's no fixed definition.
You can be a successful homeless guy.
You can be a miserable rich guy, etc...
Success is in the mind. If you try to compare and strive against other people's definition of success, then most likely you'll not be happy.
Life is for YOU to make it for yourself.
Wealth...
There's no secret to accumulating wealth. Work, earn, spend less, save, invest.
Most reliable way that everyone can use.
Anything else, is an outlier. Sometimes, people get rich by trading, sometimes people get rich building a business, lottery, etc...
But not everyone can do that.
This "secret"... Work, earn, spend less, save, invest... Can be used by almost anyone and they can retire fairly rich.
You are in control of your own destiny.
Many times, for most of us. We are affected by cause and effect.
We do something, then we get a result.
Many things in life is like that.
However, a lot of people cannot accept that. I think it's crucial for happiness to understand and accept this.
All the above are choices.
"A" leads to "B".
If you want to lose weight, you need to do something.
Exercise leads to fitness.
If you want to be rich, you need to do something.
Currently you may be "C" leading to "D".
Maybe you're having poor sleep, no exercise and a bad diet leading to poor health.
And you want "B", which is fitness.
BUT you want to continue doing "C", which is poor sleep, no exercise and bad diet.
So instead, you may try "X", which is eat pills... which... well isn't doing "A" which is exercise and eat well.
So in the end, there's a really low probability that you'll achieve "B", which is fitness.
And I see this manifest in so many other ways.
People who aren't happy with their current life situation, buying things to make themselves happy, going on big holidays, buying bigger cars, bigger houses, hoping that all these material things will make them happy. But most of the time it doesn't.
Or maybe some people are in toxic relationships, could be with a partner, or parent, or friends... but somehow they can't bear to move on in the relationship and strive for their own happiness.
Yes it's hard.
But the way to ensure that nothing changes is really to do nothing and remain the same.
And I see this in so many places. Somehow, people don't take responsibility for their own actions.
An action leads to effects. If you don't like an effect. Change the action, maybe after changing the action, the effect still isn't right, then change the action again, adjust until it's good. It's like cooking a recipe.
A lot of times, I see people stay still.
Maybe in a bad relationship, or a financial situation, etc...
They hope "things will work out in the end", like in the shows.
Some miracle may happen. Yes... some miracle MAY happen.
But not all the time.
Same as what I posted above on wealth accumulation. Maybe can strike lottery, but most of the time, life goes on like what it was before.
Don't hope other people change. Most people won't. Change yourself. It's faster and you have more control over it.
Want or not... it's really up to the individual.
For me, I've avoided people that I feel don't add to my overall well being.
I avoid negative people. I try to avoid people who don't take responsibility for their own actions.
I like hanging with people who try. They may start slow, but they are making progress. They are willing to move on and be responsible for their "cause and effect".
I'm willing to spend less to retire earlier.
When I was younger, I thought spending less means living on less.
But that's not true. Now I spend less than when I first left my job. But I've not had any decrease in overall lifestyle. So for me, it's super win-win.
And thing is... I've written about many of these before.
If you want to eat apples... buy apples, or plant an apple tree.
If you buy oranges. Then complain about buying not being able to eat apples then... makes no sense leh.
Or if you buy oranges, then you eat the oranges, and you realized, you don't like oranges, then next time... you buy oranges AGAIN... HUH! Also don't make sense leh.
Yes... I recognize change is hard.
It's easier to stay still and blame others. Or hope that things get better by itself.
I agree. I agree that it's easier.
And so, in the end these folk will live their lives and I will live mine.
They can continue to be unhappy with oranges.
I'll enjoy my apples.
heh.... started out with nothing to write about but in the end went on a rant instead.
