I think we've all heard this before?
But have you ever thought, who or what is the best man?
In a simple 100m sprint, assuming no doping issues and a fair judge and system, it's easy to determine a best man. The fastest guy would be the best man...
But what about other situations?
Like in love? Or in politics? Or in business?
What is the best man? Who is judging the best man?
Is Donald Trump the best man?
He definitely knew how to play the game. How to rile up the people, and how the marketing and election game runs.
He knew how to game the system.
But is he the best man for the job?
He is the best man in terms of getting the required votes.
You see. In this case, the way of judging the best man for the job is measured by something different from the job itself.
It's like saying the winner of the 100m sprint will be a good coach for the billiard player.
How about love?
What is the best man in love?
Usually the guy or girl who cares about the partner, who can take care of his/her needs.
But more often than not, we don't choose a partner by how he/she fulfills our needs.
We judge them by how well they fulfill our wants.
Many girls love the bad boy type. Probably isn't good for them but well... that's the best man.
Or many guys love the pretty well dressed high maintenance type... Again, probably isn't the best choice, but I suppose many guys love these kind of girls.
People just want things that are hard to get.
And in business... who does well in business?
People like Steve Jobs, strong, demanding, some people think he's an a$$hole.
(Like how he screwed his partner Steve Wozniak)
But that's just business. It's part of the game.
You don't win in business by being the nice guy...
He's great for investors.
But how does he treat his staff?
His suppliers? How about his customers?
You see. In many scenarios in life... MANY... being the nice guy is a terrible idea.
Nice guys are usually stable farmers. Cos they don't want to offend anyone, they work, make money and keep their heads down.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But next time when you hear the words, may the best man win, think a little bit...
Is it truly the best man who wins? Or someone who just knows how to game the system better?
